The Summer Crisis Program generally runs from July 1 thru August 31. In 2009, the program was able to provide up to $175.00 in electric assistance for qualified households. To qualify households had to:

Highland County’s Emergency Monthly Housing Payment Assistance is a foreclosure intervention program that brings resources to aid its residents in the increasing need for financial assistance to prevent housing instability and homelessness due to housing crisis’ or foreclosure.

On August 20, 1964, the Economic Opportunity Act was passed by Congress and this act was signed into law by President Johnson under his War On Poverty. Highland County Community Action Organization, Inc. was established in 1965.
