The Highland County Community Action Org, Inc.’s Senior Nutrition Program is making some short term adjustments to programming after receiving guidance from the Area Agency on Aging District 7.  To ensure the health and well-being of our participants, the agency has closed its Congregate Feeding Site.  We will provide meals to those interested and eligible via the home delivered option, or through pick up by eligible participants.

Home delivered meals will still be provided as we are able to those eligible.  We will take extra precautions to reduce the risks.  Staff will be monitored closely for any symptoms; staff will maintain disinfected vehicles; staff will sanitize hands between every delivery both before and after; and all health department guidelines are used in meal prep and delivery.

We will be providing shelf stable meals to participating senior participants to ensure they will have access in an emergency to meals in the event that a shutdown of services becomes necessary or mandated.  These meals should be saved for the potential of an interruption in regular operations.

We strive to ensure our program participants have not only the access to nutrition, but to a health check should it be necessary for those high risk participants.  Because of this, we have no immediate plans to interrupt our home delivered meals.
