Home Weatherization Assistance Program (HWAP)
Home Weatherization Assistance Program (HWAP) is an energy assistance program designed to reduce cost for those experiencing low-income. The program provides an assessment of the home to determine needed energy saving measures such as; insulation, heating ducts, floors, water heaters, and the reduction of air leakage in the home. A safety inspection on your heating unit, gas stove, water tank, etc. will also be performed. Weatherizing your home can save you a lot of money in utility bills and improve the health and wellbeing of you and your family!
Eligibility for the program is as follows:
- All applicants must reside in Highland County
- Households must have a gross income at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines (see chart to the right).
OR
- Families/Individuals receiving assistance from Supplemental Security Income
(SSI) or the Home Energy Assistance Program (HWAP) any time during the last
twelve months.
