Under the Moving Ohio Forward grant program introduced by Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine last year, 22 blighted buildings have been demolished so far across Highland County. According to Highland County Community Action Housing Director Mark Current, 14 more structures are under contract for demolition.  Of the 22 so far, four have been in Hillsboro, three in Greenfield, and 15 more across the county.

“We have more than met our goals,” Current said about what was hoped to be accomplished by the project. The original goal, he said, was to take down 12 blighted structures combined in Hillsboro and Greenfield and 18 more across the county. Right now, between the two largest municipalities the total will be 13 and for the rest of the county, 23 structures.
