SNAP Outreach
Too often the most at risk individuals choose not to access one of the most important services available for a variety of reasons. This service is the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program. Many times residents over age 60 find they must choose between groceries and medicine or even paying the electric bill. This is a decision no one should have to make, especially our parents and grandparents.
HCCAO understands this and also understands the barriers to accessing this program. As a result, outreach and assistance is provided to anyone over age 60 to remove these barriers and effectively access this program. Off site informational meetings are held monthly where seniors live, work, play and worship to provide information and begin to break down the barriers. One on one assistance in application completion and even delivery with requests to waive face to face interviews is offered.
